Over the Ocean - Chapter 6

This was enough to make Finn trust her. He laid his head back and closed his eyes, enjoying the lift from his new found friend. Soon his mind wandered off into a world of its own, and he forgot all about his situation. But he was soon aroused from his reverie, only to discover that he was now back in the ‘real world’. “You’re quite light for a merboy!” exclaimed Tiana. Finn smiled. He was enjoying Tiana’s company greatly, and was glad that she had found him on the beach. As they approached a small house, Tiana said “here we are! This is my house.” Finn’s eyes scrolled up and down the house; he had never seen anything like this! Back in the ocean, Finn slept in clams and lived in the waters of the great blue Pacific. But this, this was something else. So odd looking, so…different. “Wow” was all Finn could manage. Tiana open the front door and let herself into the house. “My parents are out for quite a while, so that gives me plenty of time to help you” she explained. Gently, she placed him on the table and turned him on his side, exposing his tail laceration. She frowned at the sight of it. “Let me get some supplies; I’ll be right back” she reassured Finn. “What does she mean by ‘supplies’?” Finn wondered, his astonishment replaced by fear.

Five minutes later, Tiana returned with some bandages, a wet cloth and some antiseptic cream. Finn looked at her confusedly and worriedly, suddenly afraid that she might hurt him. “Now, there is no need to be afraid. I am simply going to clear the wound and prevent infection, then bandage it up for you” she explained in a reassuring voice. Finn began to feel calmer at this point, and gave her access to his wound without difficulty. Tiana pressed the wet cloth gently on the cut, and in result, Finn hissed with pain. She stroked his chocolate-brown hair and hugged him softly, attempting to calm the young merboy. She continued to do this, as Finn was struggling to cope with the pain. He buried his head in Tiana’s shoulder and winced slightly. “There there, everything is going to be just fine” she said calmly. She released the cloth and looked at the wound. It was looking much better than before. The next step was to put the antiseptic cream on, and she knew that was going to be a struggle from the start. The downfall of antiseptic cream was that when it was applied to a cut, it stung like crazy! However, it had to be done. Tiana held Finn firmly in her arms, preparing for his attempted escape. With a cotton bud, she dabbed the area with the cream, making sure it went all over the wound. Finn yelped, and squirmed violently in pain. Tears were forming in his eyes; he wasn’t used to this kind of afflict.
“Its okay, Finn, its okay.” Tiana said, cuddling a now teary-eyed merboy. “I’ve got you.”
